Be the highest bidder: Opera 9.5 adds Allegro to Speed Dial in Poland
Oslo, Norway and Poznan, Poland — June 17, 2008
With the launch of Opera 9.5, Opera Software announces its partnership with Allegro, the leading online trading and auction platform in Poland.
Allegro’s trading platform will be a pre-set search field in Opera’s Speed Dial, in the Polish version of Opera 9.5. Speed Dial is a feature that lets people transform their top sites into nine visual bookmarks that are immediately available upon opening a new tab. The Allegro search has also been integrated in the Polish version of Opera Mini 4.1.
Allegro, a subsidiary of QXL Poland, is currently 174th among the world’s most visited Web sites and ranked second among Polish Web sites. With eight million Polish users, http://www.allegro.pl/ is a must-have search field on Speed Dial. Speed Dial settings from the desktop browser can be accessed via a mobile phone using Opera Link. Opera Link serves as the bridge between devices, allowing users to access their saved bookmarks, notes and Speed Dial settings when using Opera Mini on their mobile phones.
“Our trading platform has quickly grown into one of the most visited sites in Poland. With Opera’s popularity among Polish users, it was a natural step for us to cooperate and combine our services to meet the needs of the Polish market,” says Patryk Tryzubiak, PR Manager, Allegro Group.
Allegro’s Web site will also be integrated in Opera 9.5’s search menu, located in the browser chrome. The search menu is located in the upper right hand corner of the screen, and http://www.allegro.pl/ will be the second search option after Google.
“Poland is a very important market to us and in order to stay relevant, we are adding services such as Allegro to our browser,” says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “We feel that this partnership gives the Polish community more freedom to go about their lives while staying connected. Whether bidding on a waffle maker or a diamond ring, Opera is there to make sure you do it faster.”
