Meet the team

Anders Höckersten

Why did you choose to work at Opera?
I was impressed by Opera's products, which have a level of quality that is rare in the IT world today. I also felt that Opera as a company has a positive set of values and I got a genuine feeling that people here liked their work. Also, the bragging rights of working at Opera are immense - Opera is a recognized company with a great reputation.
First time you ever used a computer?
I have no idea. I think my family bought their first computer when I was around 9 years old, but I must have encountered one earlier.
Best thing in your life?
My freedom.
What can't you live without?
I am sad to say that it would probably be Internet access and the Opera browser!
What's your hidden talent?
I know a little bit about everything, which means I can talk to anyone about anything.
Favorite Web site?
Wikipedia. I have been known to spend entire weekends just surfing around and reading different articles.
How long have you been working for Opera?
11 months now.
Best perk about working for Opera?
We don't have to wear shoes at the office! (and no, you will probably not appreciate how fantastic this is until you've tried it)

Henrik Bakken
Product Manager from Norway
Why did you choose to work at Opera?
A couple of good friends and schoolmates had already joined, and convinced me that Opera was a great company to work for.
First time you ever used a computer?
In my dad's office as a 5 year old, printing cool address labels on a dot matrix printer!
Favorite sport?
Opera's squash competition is serious stuff! Not to mention the ping- pong tournaments! If time allows I like to scuba dive, and I'm also trying to learn to rock climb.
Do you have a hidden talent?
Well, I've been doing some opera... Actually it was a musical performing in Oslo and later in Beijing, but I don't think that kind of opera is a fallback for me. My total singing experience upfront was two short weeks in a voluntary choir!
Favorite Web site?
trafikanten.no (they serve real time traffic info for Oslo's public transport system. Not a very interesting site, except every morning when I go/run to the bus!)
How long have you been working at Opera?
About three years.
Best perk about working for Opera?
The ability to play with a lot of cool and new technology and the meals at Opera are great!

How would you describe Opera's working environment/culture?
It is a mixture of different cultures, free, easy and dynamic.

Lunch time!! Opera's canteen is great.
If you weren't a QA engineer what would you want to be?
I would like to be a university teacher/researcher.
